First I want to start off with my looks for the weekend as part of my 2015 Winter Wardrobe.
Friday Look 34: Purple Limited blazer over my chambray Limited shirt with my New York and Company grey skinnies and Sorel blacks boots, all accessorized with my multi-strand necklace from Premier Design.
Saturday Look 35: Limited skater dress with my cable knit white Banana Republic sweater and over the knee Cole Haan brown boots, accessorized with this beautiful blue toned necklace from my friend Evonne.
Sunday Look 36: BCBG dress with my Limited purple sweater and Cole Haan black knee high boots, accessorized with a multi-stand necklace from Banana Republic.
Last week went by so fast so this weekend I spent my mornings catching up on all the glamorous gowns at the Oscars.
So first I’m going to start with Lupita Nyong’o’s beautiful custom made Calvin Klein Collection dress. This dress was so detailed and made with over 6,000 pearls and the florescent color reflected looks amazing against her skin. Now I know a lot of critics complained about the thickness of the neckline and I have to agree with so much detail to this dress there could have been some attention given to the top. Regardless it’s still a gorgeous dress, so amazing that it was actually stolen out of her hotel room!!!!! http://www.tmz.com/2015/02/27/lupita-nyongo-dress-found-stolen-oscars-gown-pearls-fake-video/#ixzz3SzchwIV5 TMZ reported that the dress was taken and then returned once the robber priced out a couple of the pearls only to find that they were fake and didn’t see value in the dress. I don’t care if they are fake, I would have definitely kept this amazing dress!
I can’t decide if Lady Gaga’s Azzedine Alaia gown is a hit or miss. I feel like I would expect more from her and even though she does have those red butcher gloves on, it still wasn’t Gaga enough for me. She also looks like she’s drowning and not in the Gaga way.
Jennifer Aniston looked amazing in her beaded champagne Versace dress, she had the perfect neckline which wasn’t too high or too low for her body shape. I also loved the color against her skin and especially her hair. I know that critics complain that she wears too many nude colored dresses , but this was a definite hit for her!
Zoe Sandoval on the other hand was a bit of a miss for me. I loved the color of this Atelier Versace pink gown and how the dress flows in the back but despite that I still think this dress is a miss. Come on the front looks like she has cooter tissue! What is it going to sneeze sometime throughout the night and you want to be prepared?
I personally don’t like Jennifer Lopez but I must say that she does look stunning in this Elie Saab dress. I love the princess look and feel, but girl come on do you ever wear a bra? How much tape do you have under that dress? Also isn’t this just a repeat of the Golden Globes? Try something new next time.
I love everything about Anna Kendrick’s peach chiffon Thakoom dress! This was a hit for me! The color, the peekaboo slit in front, the jewels around the neck line. It’s fabulous and her hair fit the style of this dress. Definitely one of my favorite dresses on the red carpet.
Emma Stone’s was also a hit! The Elie Saab dress is 1920s gorgeous. I can’t get over all the detail that went into the pattern and all of the beads and sequins. Plus not everyone can pull off a pale green gown, but with Emma’s red hair color and complexion, it was a match made in couture heaven. Though don’t worry Emma, we all have wardrobe mishaps, at least you were wearing underwear!!!
I don’t think critics gave much credit to America Ferrera’s ombre hunter green Jenny Packham gown. The neckline complimented her broad shoulders and large chest very well! She’s not the type to show off cleavage so this really worked well for her. Plus the belt detail was centered at the perfect spot! Not too high to make this an empire waist and not too low to create a dumpy feel. This was a definite oversight on the red carpet and is a hit!
I cant decide if Scarlett Johansson’s look is a hit or miss, she wore an emerald green custom Atelier Versace gown with a Swarovski crystal embroidered collar. To me, the hair is def a miss, I’m on the fence about color of this dress (for her complexion), but the dress and yes even the neckline is a hit. So I’m stumped!
Red on the red carpet is a definite do! Dakota Johnsons, Rosamund Pike, and Giulianna Ranci were all on my hit list. Dakota for the sexy asymmetrical Yves Saint Laurent number with the jeweled shoulder. Rosamund for her the gorgeous pattern and frontal slit Givenchy dress. Last Giulianna for her last minute change from a white gown to this stunning red design by Mireille Dagher.
