NYFW: Derek Lam Mix It Up!

  • SumoMe

I loved the Violet color from Derek Lam’s show at NYFW. I’m wearing a bebe sleeveless top with fabric and metal fringe hanging from the neckline. I had to be careful of the pant color because anything darker would deter from the light purple of the top and set it off balance. So I grabbed these dressier pants from Banana Republic that are closer to sand in color than tan.

Here is a close up of my makeup. Since my skin is olive the right violet color is a difficult find. I lined my eye with the Champagne 23L eyeliner from Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes. This has to be one of my favorite eyeliner colors and I’ll tell you why. I line the bottom to give me those “wide awake” eyes and then the top and I layer whatever eyeshadow I’m wearing right over it. This layering doesn’t directly combine the two but what you actually see will depend on the eyeshadow. If the are none to barely any sparkles or shimmer from the Champagne Eyeliner then that means the particle size of the shadow is blocking any light reflecting off the eyeliner. This will give you a deeper version of your eyeshadow color. Now if you see some to a lot of shimmer this means there is a different in particle size of the eyeshadow which the. allows light to be reflected from the eyeliner. I was able to achieve the latter with layering Mary Kay eyeshadow ontop.
