2015 Spring Trends

  • SumoMe

There are so many trends that anyone can wear this Spring! You can choose from your favorite patterns (maybe you already have this in your closet) or from color combinations that fit your forecast! I will try my best to break this down as easy as possible in terms of type of style, color, and pattern so that you can create some of these looks yourself!

First I will go through the styles and talk about which patterns, fabric, or colors fit well in each individual platform.

That 70’s RTW Show – This is truly a decade that will stand the test of time. Though you do have to think about it as a category that includes other styles such as Bohemian, California Casual, or American Denim.  It honestly depends on your personal preference or sense of style. This season look for dresses that flow in the wind or while you walk. Wild flower not floral arrangements prints (that’s another style). Think of a prairie with daisies, sunflowers, and bluebonnets. Denim, Denim, Denim! Take this beyond your jeans and try this textile with shirts , coats, jumpsuits, and dress. (Speaking of dresses the shirt dress is big this Spring and you’ll get extra points if your shirt dress is denim) This material is so versatile and can be wore from a light to a dark wash, printed, laced or bedazzled. Colored suede is another fabric seen with this style; look for golden yellows and browns. Don’t forget to add Fringe whenever possible!!! Boots, Bags, Jackets!!!

Emilio Pucci hit it right with Peter Dundas’ beautiful collection this Spring RTW 2015

Zen – Keeping yourself in calm and relaxed state, balance your Chi. This look can be Asian inspired with kimono inspired dresses or coats, you want a light weight fabric and then complete this look with a obi belt tied around your waist. Nothing is structured and everything is minimal including jewelry. Also look for pieces with a thin fabric, with this look you don’t want to seem heavy or structured. Along with the Asian inspired theme there is a white on white color combination seen with this style. Try a white suit with a slightly off white colored blouse, just keep the collar and pockets as non-existing as you can.

Going on a Safari – This look is back, it comes and goes under different themes like Military or Tribal, but this season think khaki and olive green. This is a little more structure to this look, but that is actually the fun part. You can have fun with a cute dress/skirt or create a weekend look with olive colored skinnies and platform brown leather heels. This look can be difficult or easy to pull off, it depends on your personality and creativeness. Also try a mixture of tough textures with soft or silky ones, this will help balance the look out.

Though the Ralph Lauren collection for Spring RTW 2015 has to be the best example of this look and style. http://www.style.com/fashion-shows/spring-2015-ready-to-wear/ralph-lauren

Comfortable Sportswear – I know it might still be a little cold this Spring but DON’T go out wearing sweats create a DO by looking comfortable and stylish. Think polos with soft necklines and in a light knit fabric.  Another great fabric for this look is jersey knit, try it with a jumpsuit or dress. Also pair down your tops with culottes, they are making a comeback this spring.

A Paris Picnic – I saved the best for last! This is my most favorite style of all this Spring. Picture it: a picnic in front of the Eiffel tower, a blanket, wine and chees BUT what would you be wearing? This look is all about pattern and color: focus on gingham, statement stripes, floral, and lace for pattern and fabrics and then colors like black, white, and yellow. The best example of this look is straight from Oscar de la Renta’s last Spring RTW show. I don’t know how is predecessor will be able to keep this designer’s name alive…..wait and see.
